Music Marketing

Our group was assigned a rock song. So from the start we knew the music video had to really stand out. We knew right away to create a video that revolved around a storyline. Later on, the topic of two couples was chosen as the idea for the music video. Ryan suggested we do two couples who individually gain interest for the opposite sex of the other couple. We all agreed on this idea since it also made a connection to the theme of our song "Many Shades Of Black". It was also decided that the music video be shot by a Fort Lauderdale Beach since it would allow room for creativity.

At first we had the difficulty of Janine being in quarantine due to COVID-19 which slowed things down a bit, but she came back soon enough. But now, the largest problem was figuring out the plot for the video. A lot of ideas were pitched but we just stuck to a simpler route and all found a middle ground. We also knew that Ryan had to be included in some cuts during the video to show the relationship of the story and the artist. The momentum picked up and the ideas for the video and the marketing were great. We decided on a unique font with dark purple to be the choices for the logo. Then, the website was created which ended up being super well done and was filled with merch, tour dates, and even a newsletter. After, the Instagram page was created which will have content added to it soon.

The Google Slides proved to be a great tool for brainstorming and making all of the ideas more clear. We decided who will write each topic alongside who will present it. Sarah and Janine really helped with the layout of the PowerPoint and made sure to prioritize aesthetics and making the information understandable. On Sunday, the video will be shot and then fully edited by Monday. Overall, I think the group did a great job and we all collaborated pretty well. Ideas usually flowed together and there was not much clashing or hesitation.
